Zimbabwe: IMF Hints Govt Still Far From Getting Support

Harare — THE International Monetary Fund (IMF) indicated yesterday that Zimbabwe was still far from securing much-needed international financial support, suggesting the country needed to first establish a track record of "sound policy implementation" to win global backing.

In a statement issued two days after a board meeting on Zimbabwe on Monday, the IMF said its executive board had decided to lift the suspension of technical assistance to the country, but admitted sanctions on the use of IMF resources remained in place.
