AfDB Web Site Wins Three Prizes

The External relations and Communications Unit (ERCU) is pleased to announce that the AfDB web site has just won three awards. These awards have been granted based on the site's design, content, functionality, usability, standards compliance & Cross-Browser Compatibility.

Best in Class Award in the Advocacy category, granted by Interactive Media Awards.

Bronze award in the Public Service / Non-Profit category, granted by Horizon Interactive Awards.

Bronze award in the Business to Business category, granted as well by Horizon Interactive Awards.

The Bank's current web site was launched on February 4, 2009, following a revamping exercise involving the ERCU web team and focal points in other Bank Group organizational units.

Since its launch, the new site has witnessed a significant increased in traffic. Comparing the number of visits in 2008 and 2009 from February to May, it could be noticed that there is a daily traffic increase of 62.19% in 2009, that is, 4,889.03 visits per day as against 3,014.32 visits per day for the same period in 2008. The number of visits during that period stands at 518,237 2009 as against 322,532 in 2008.

Actions have been planned to continuously improve the Bank's web site in order to meet the needs of unit focal points as well as stepping up quality control undertaken by the ERCU web team and acting on feedback from site visitors.
