AfDB: Kenya-Launching of the 2009 African Economic Outlook

The Minister for Planning, National Development and Vision 2030, Mr. Wycliffe Oparanya launched the African Economic Outlook in Nairobi on 4th June 2009. During the launch, the Minister lauded the African Development Bank for successful production of the report which he noted had become a useful reference document for the staff of his Ministry and the entire Government. He underscored the cordial relations between the Bank and Kenya and outlined several successful ongoing operations as examples of good practice.

The Italian Embassy representative Alberto Labella, speaking on behalf of the G8 also lauded the Bank for a high quality product. The AfDB Resident Representative Domina Buzingo, reiterated that the document was a joint effort between OECD and UNECA and the Bank, and that the Bank will continue to facilitate its annual production. The event was attended by several Government officials, development partner, private sector and people from research institutions. Presentations were made by Peter Ondiege, AfDB Chief Reasearch Economist and Desire Vencatachellum, AfDB Lead Research Economist.
