Bank Group President Receives Zimbabwe Economic Planning and Investment Promotion Minister

Bank Group President, Donald Kaberuka, on Tuesday June 30, 2009 in Tunis, received Zimbabwe's economic planning and investment promotion minister, Elton Mangoma.

Discussions between the two men centered on matters relating to the institution's support to the country's short-term recovery needs. Discussions also revolved around capacity building in key economic ministries and institutions, including the ministries of finance, economic planning and investment promotion; regional cooperation, and the statistics office.

Other issues discussed included emergency reconstruction of water and sanitation infrastructure, and Bank Group actions to re-invigorate the local private sector and expand investment in the areas such as mining, agriculture and tourism. The Executive Director for Zimbabwe, A Mvumbe; Director, Abdirahman Beileh, and Lead Economist, Andrew Mwaba, participated in the meeting.
