Bob Geldof Visits Bank Group

Irish Rock Star, Bob Geldof, on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, paid a courtesy call on the Bank Group. The visit, which is the first of its kind, enabled the actor and writer to meet with senior officials of the institution within the framework of the global financial crisis.

Speaking during a working session with Bank Group President, Donald Kaberuka, Mr. Geldof focused on the "leading role the AfDB is playing during the crisis." Besides the meeting with Mr. Kaberuka, he also held a working session with private sector experts, including Vice President, Bobby Pittman. Mr. Geldof has been campaigning for the continent. He is also known for his charity concerts - Band Aid, Live Aid and Live 8. Bob Geldof is the Council of Europe's 2005 North-South Prize winner.
