AfDB and Chad Sign Grant Agreements

AfDB Vice President, Kamal El Kheshen, and the Chadian Agriculture Minister, Mbailou Naimbaye Lossimian, on Thursday, September 11, 2009, signed two Fragile States Facility grant agreements.

The first grant of UA 450,215.71, equivalent to US$ 706,839, will finance capacity building initiatives in the human resources and training department of the Chadian health ministry.

The second grant of UA156, 745.46, equivalent of US$246,090, will finance a study on transhumance conducted by the country's animal breeding ministry. The study will make it possible to undertake actions to ensure safe transhumance and reduce conflicts as well as gain a better understanding of various components of transhumance.
