On the sidelines of the World Bank Annual Meetings taking place in Istanbul, Turkey, the AfDB held a luncheon with governors of its regional member countries where they focused on results of the G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh and the quest for new resources for the Bank Group.

The South African Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan, presented a detailed report on measures taken by the G-20 concerning the financing of Multilateral Development Banks. "Any strategy for recovery must take into consideration that emerging and developing countries are not yet out of the crisis," he said. The AfDB's objective is to support the most vulnerable African countries. The Ivorian Economy Minister and Board of Governors Chair, Antoine Bouabré, called for a mobilization of AfDB regional governors for a general resource increase.
