Liberia: Cellcom - GSM Company of the Year

column

When the name Cellcom is mentioned, most Liberians know it is the best GSM service provider in the country. Since Cellcom entered the Country's GSM market 2004 and promised that "The Future Is Here", no other year has come and gone without the company introducing new programs to make communication better and affordable, for everyone-the haves and have-nots.

Its promotional slogan "With Cellcom You Are Always Number 1" was highly manifested in 2009, when the company dished out over US$150,000 to several of its subscribers in raffle draws and provided several thousands of United States dollars worth of humanitarian assistances to schools during its "Be A Millionaire Campaign." That campaign actually delivered several Liberians from the shackles of poverty. But beyond that, Cellcom, again, initiated another give-away campaign termed "Live Your Dream" that ended late December. During the campaign, eight of the company's subscribers won eight expensive 2009 model vehicles (including a Hummer jeep won by a disabled man) through raffle draws. In addition to the two major campaigns, Cellcom also carried out other programs that brought smiles on the faces of many Liberians. Outstanding amongst all its "humanistic" and people-oriented initiatives, was the sharing of its success with all Liberians-Cellcom subscribers or not. Cellcom gave out 500,000 shares to the Liberian public at US$10 per share. Isn't that fantastic?! With the above and many other not mentioned, The Informer had no other alternative but to select Cellcom as its GSM Company of The Year 2009.
