AfDB Appoints Chief Economist

The African Development Bank (AfDB) is appointing Professor Mthuli Ncube as the Bank's new Chief Economist, to succeed Louis Kasekende who has returned to his country as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda.

Professor Ncube, a national of South Africa is currently serving as Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management at the University of the Witwatesrand (Wits) Johannesburg, South Africa.

He is also Chairman of the Board of the African Economic Research Consortium.

Born in 1963, he holds a Ph.D from Cambridge University, UK - and has published widely in the domain of economics and finance.
