Port-Louis — As Mauritians went to the polls to elect a new government for the next five years in a closely contested election, across the island women were voting for a better life.
At the close of the polling centres late on May 5, 77.8 percent of the 879 897 registered voters cast their votes compared to 81.5 percent who did so in 2005.
