Outcome of the ADF-12 Replenishment Consultations

Deputies representing donor countries concluded the Twelfth Replenishment of the African Development Fund (ADF-12) on October 7, 2010, with agreement on an increase of 10.6 percent in total donor resources for the period 2011-2013. Donors and Management agreed that this represented a strong vote of confidence in the Fund, its leadership and its role in African development, and is a significant achievement in the exceptionally challenging fiscal conditions that all countries face.

Increased donor commitments, alongside internally generated resources, will provide total funding of approximately USD 9.5 billion (UA/SDR 6.1 billion) to support the Fund's work in Africa for 2011-2013.

Donors endorsed a policy framework for the ADF-12 period which deepens existing strategic priorities of infrastructure, governance, regional integration and support for fragile states, and lays special emphasis on the importance of African private sector development, and on the need to incorporate climate change into the Fund's work. Donors expressed strong support for the continuation of ongoing institutional reforms, to build the capacity of ADF and the African Development Bank as the leading African development institution.
