Kampala — The Government will construct over 4,000 housing units annually, a move aimed at curbing the current housing deficit, the First Lady said last week.
Mrs. Janet Museveni explained that through the public-private partnership programme, the Government will encourage and support the private sector in housing estate development to address the deficit. "The issue of reducing taxes on construction materials, infrastructure development like roads is being addressed and I assure you tax reduction on cement and other materials will be addressed. We want to see a modern Uganda," said Mrs. Museveni at the launch of 268 housing units for Sunset Apartments in Kiwatule, a Kampala suburb.
