AfDB President Underscores Importance of Africa Green Fund At Cancun Climate Conference

The African Development Bank (AfDB) President, Donald Kaberuka, has reiterated the need for a comprehensive post-2012 Kyoto agreement on climate change acceptable to all, and underscored the importance of the Africa Green Fund being established by the AfDB, to mobilize resources in support efforts to mitigate the disastrous impact of volatile weather conditions across the continent.

In a statement delivered at the High-Level segment of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change conference in Cancun, Mexico, on Thursday, 9 December 2010, Mr. Kaberuka emphasized the devastating impact of climate change in Africa and the need to mobilize resources to tackle the challenge posed by the unusual weather conditions.
