Rwanda: Gen Karenzi to Head Nyakinama Military Academy

Kigali — Major General Karenzi Karake has been appointed Commandant of the Rwanda Military Academy based in Nyakinama, in the Northern Province.

According to Lt. Col. Jill Rutaremara, the Defence and Military Spokesperson, Karake's posting, is among 36 other appointment in the force.

Maj Gen Karake, once headed the academy before going to serve on the peacekeeping force in Darfur.

Others appointed are Brig. Gen. Frank Mushyo Kamanzi, as Commandant of Rwanda Military Academy, in Gako.

Mushyo has been serving as the acting Commandant of the Nyakinama academy.

Col. Innocent Kabandana, is the Deputy Commandant Rwanda Military Academy, in Nyakinama.

Others include Col. Evariste Murenzi, as Ag. Brigade Commander of 408 Brigade; Col. Denis Rutaha, Commanding Officer Artillery Brigade; Lt. Col. Sam Baguma, as Ag Brigade Commander, 204 Brigade; Lt. Col. Rwakabi Kacyira, the Director of Operations under J3; and Lt. Col. Nelson Rwigema, Commanding Officer 49 Battalion.

Lt. Col. Frederick Itangayenda, is the new Commanding Officer of 157 Battalion while Lt. Col. Alex Ibambasi, is the Commanding Officer of 3rd Battalion.
