Eritrea: Eri-Tel Accomplishes Major Tasks in Expanding Service

Asmara — The Eritrean Telecommunication Corporation (ERI-TEL) implemented various projects worth more than 1.6 billion Nakfa over the past 20 years since independence, according to Mr. Tesfaslasie Berhane, general manager of the corporation.

He pointed out that in the early days of independence, only 13,000 telephone lines used to provide service in limited towns. In the post-independence period, however, the number increased to 55,000 thanks to the introduction of modern equipments at substantial investment.
