Ghana: Cancer Strikes Prestea, Tarkwa

Up to eight adults out of every 100 inhabitants in the Prestea Huni Valley District (PHVD) and the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality in the Western Region are potential cancer patients, according to a new study report to be launched in Accra tomorrow, Tuesday 25th October, 2011.

The study, which involved the examination of blood samples of respondents, water and food sources as well as the analysis of hospital records of respondents from the PHVD, Tarkwa Nsuaem and Cape Coast Municipality, reveals that in some cases nine out of every 100 children have traces of cancer in their blood.
