Africa: U.S. Senate Body Examines China's Impact and Influence

Washington, DC — The Senate Foreign Relations Africa Subcommittee will convene a hearing Tuesday focused on China's role in Africa.

The hearing "will consider how China's rapidly increasing role in Africa is affecting U.S. foreign and economic policy," Chris Coons (Democract-Delaware), who chairs the Subcommittee, said on his Senate blog.

The session, entitled, "China's Role in Africa: Implications for U.S. Policy," is scheduled for 02:15 PM in 419 Senate Dirksen Office Building.

Three witnesses presenting testimony include:

Republican Johnny Isakson of Georgia is the Ranking Minority member of the Subcommittee. Other Senators on the panel include Democrats Ben Cardin (Maryland), Jim Webb (Virginia), Dick Durbin (Illinois) and Tom Udall (New Mexico), and Republicans James Inhofe (Oklahoma), Mike Lee (Utah) and Bob Corker (Tennessee).
