Africa: Zimbabwean Rapper Kapital K Needs Your Vote to Perform at Lil Wayne's Show

2 December 2011

Upcoming Zimbabwean hip-hop star Kapital K is likely to perform an opening set on Lil Wayne's concert on December 7 at the Bellville Velodrome in Cape Town, South Africa.

Kapital (real name Keith Guzha)  is at the top of the list in the Listen with Care competition, run by Canoc Productions, on Facebook . He has the most votes and Likes - just what he needs to be the supporting act for the Grammy Award-winning American rapper.

Over forty hip-hop stars are vying for the privilege of performing at the Cape Town concert and among the top contestants are PS Quit, Youngstar and Ameen.

By Friday, December 2, Kapital K was the leading first round of the competition by 726 Likes, while his biggest rival, Ameen from South Africa, stood at 572 Likes. He is also leading in the second round of the competition where fans vote and leave a comment on the Listen With Care contest page. The results of the competition will be announced on December 6 and whoever wins, gets a chance to perform in front of thousands of Lil Wayne fans.

The rapper is a young, fresh, and confident performer and he reckons it's the main reason people should vote for him. "When it comes to music and anything in life, I'm a performer and I give 110% in everything I do. My music is a fresh sound that feels good to everyone - it has no borders, no age barriers, no gender limitations. It's not underground, its not deep hip hop that one has to think hard about," says the Zimbabwean now living and studying in Cape Town.

His Entertainment Company Kapital4Kapital record recently signed a joint venture with Livestock Music on a project that will be released in 2012.

He said: "We are taking hip hop to another level, bringing in a lot of different sounds, different collaborations. It's definitely going to be something that hasn't been done in Africa."
