Nigeria: Tiger Brand's Incursion Into Local Food Industry Could Create Monopoly

The recent take-over of majority stake in two of Nigeria's leading food manufacturing companies - UAC Foods and Dangote Flour Mills- by a South African company, Tiger Brands, could create unhealthy monopoly in food industry, stakeholders have warned.

They said it was time the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, began to monitor the activities of Tiger Brands to guard against capital flight and anti-trust activities that may emanate from the aggressive takeover bids by the company.
