President Girma Woldegiorgis has held discussions with Dr. Yasin Abubaker, the Asia and Africa Director of the Albasar International Foundation of Saudi Arabia which is preparing to build an optical hospital and training center in Addis Ababa.

President Girma emphasized Ethiopia's efforts to meet the aims set for health in the Millennium Development Goals, and praised the construction of the optical center as a valuable contribution to this.

He assured the Director that the government would support the project in all possible ways. Speaking about the Foundation Dr. Yasin Abubaker said that for the last 13 years the Foundation "has been giving free optical medical assistance by bringing opticians to Ethiopia."

Currently, opticians brought by the Foundation are providing free services in Axum and in Jijiga. Dr. Abubaker expressed his belief that the construction of the center would strengthen the ties between the two countries and raise them to an even higher level.
