The Management Board and the Governing Council of the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF), held two important meetings on Sunday 26 and Monday 27 May 2013 in Marrakech, where they took important decisions on how to tackle their future engagements.
The meeting was chaired by the President of the Governing Council, Lucien Bembamba, who expressed gratitude to the donors, and partners who contributed to the resources of the ALSF and encouraged management to pursue efforts in sensitizing donors and partners to support the Facility.
He also congratulated the ALSF Director and his team for their achievements in attracting new members and undertaking resource mobilization initiatives for the Facility..
The Governing Council officially launched the ALSF's Medium-Term Strategy, approved its 2012 annual report, and the auditor's report.
The meeting deliberated on institutional matters including the mandate of the Management Board.
They also discussed the ALSF's mid-year activities and operations report. The mandate of the current Management Board expires in June 2013.
Bembamba noted that the Facility has become a vital African institution for strengthening capacities of regional members, to enable them to negotiate complex contracts in an equitable manner so as to maximize the benefits of their natural resources.
