The foundation had chosen the President of the Bank as the recipient of this award for his outstanding work and for everything he had done to prioritize infrastructure investment as well as his achievements in mobilizing funds to fund vital projects throughout Africa.
As he accepted the award, Kaberuka thanked his staff and also the Bank's partners, all of whom had contributed to the Bank's efforts to transform the continent. He also quipped that he was officially accepting the trophy and declaring its value, in line with Bank procedures and guidelines.
The African Banker Awards ceremony was attended by over 500 high level guests, and featured a number of high profile artists such as Youssou N'Dour, Akon and John Legend. The awards are organized by IC Publications, publishers of New African, African Business and African Banker magazines.
