The leader of night runners in Kenya wants the government to recognise the activity as a sport. Speaking to the Star on the phone yesterday, Jack Songo said the government should recognise night running under the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Art. Songo said night running has been regarded as illegal for a long time.
"It is unfortunate that we have been discriminated upon for a long time yet we (night runners) do not harm anyone," he said. Songo said part of the money set aside for the Sports ministry should be channelled to night runners' associations.
