ECA Recognized for Promoting Gtap in Africa

Addis Ababa — The Center for Global Trade Analysis in Purdue University has awarded the Regional Integration and Trade Director at the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) the Alan A. Powell 2013 Award in recognition for outstanding service to a representative currently serving on the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) Advisory Board.

GTAP is a global network of researchers and policy makers conducting quantitative analysis of international policy issues, with the goal of improving the quality of quantitative analysis of global economic issues within an economy-wide framework.

The Regional Integration, Infrastructure and Trade Division has been a member of the GTAP Consortium since 2005. The Centre for Global Trade Analysis notes that its current Director has been instrumental in hosting GTAP events, mobilizing I-O tables, leading policy analyses and ensuring that GTAP realizes its maximum possible impact in Africa.

The award was given by Thomas W. Hertel Distinguished Professor and Executive Director of the Center for Global Trade Analysis, Purdue University at its Board meeting held this year in Shanghai, China.
