The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) will play an active role in the United Nations Private Sector Forum 2013 to be held on September 20 in New York.
Designed as the high-level luncheon of the UN Global Compact Leaders' Summit, this year's Forum will focus on the private sector's role in the post-2015 development agenda. Placing emphasis on unique opportunities and challenges in Africa, key themes include employment and inclusive growth, education, women's empowerment, and innovative and sustainable finance.
Since 2008, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon convenes the Forum during the opening session of the UN General Assembly to give voice to the private sector in inter-governmental negotiations on key topics.
The UN Private Sector Forum 2013 is organized by the UN Global Compact in close cooperation with the African Development Bank, African Business Magazine, the International Labour Organization (ILO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
