ECA-AMU Meeting On Financing Regional Integration in North Africa

ECA and AMU Secretariat General organized on December 11, 2013 in Rabat (Morocco) a working meeting dedicated to the issue of financing of regional integration.

The objective was to present the study report carried out by ECA on the feasibility of a self-financing mechanism for AMU.

The study is undertaken in the framework of the ECA-AMU multi Year Program of cooperation, and aims to define the modalities of establishing a more autonomous and more performing alternative financing system, for securing the regional integration agenda

The meeting discussed the legal and fiscal parameters of the proposed mechanism and on the methodology for its adoption.

Following the discussions, the Secretariat General of AMU requested a follow up support of ECA in the ownership and negotiation process of the new instrument.
