Ethiopia: First Printer Assembly Plant Starts in Ethiopia

The first printer assembling plant in Ethiopia is started by Tana communications and Samsung Electronics company jointly at Bahir Dar. The plant under the indigenous company TIRET is the result of the agreement between the Ethiopian government and Samsung company last June in technology transfer.

The factory assembles 70 printers a day and it has created 200 jobs now. The assembly will create 700 jobs expanding its capacity. TIRET CEO, Tadesse Kassa said in addition to creating jobs the plant will play greater role in technology transfer. It is also reported that the plant is the first in Africa.
