The Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Dr. Graziano da Silva, and the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Dr. Carlos Lopes will sign a Memorandum of Understanding that provides a framework for collaboration between the two institutions. The document is a formal recognition of the two organzations' commitment to contribute to the eradication of hunger, overcoming poverty, and the enhancement of livelihoods through transition to sustainable development. The MOU signing ceremony is an event on the agenda of the 23rd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union. Journalists are invited to attend and cover the FAO-ECA MOU signing ceremony.
