Liberia: CDC Condemns West Point Shooting... Seeks Audience With Pres. Sirleaf

The National Executive Committee of the Congress for Democratic Change said it is troubled by the re-emergence of the Military's use of deadly force against unarmed civilians in West Point and calls for an independent inquiry.

According to a statement read yesterday by the CDC's acting Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Nathaniel F. McGill, the leadership of the CDC being categorical in its condemnation of the joint actions of the Liberia National Police backed by the Military, also believes urgent measures to deescalate spiraling tensions in WestPoint and other parts of the country are imperative decisions the President is encouraged to envisage.
