Liberia: Economy in Recession Says Finance Minister Because of Ebola

Finance and Development Planning Minister, Amara Konneh has provided updates on the state of the Liberian economy, government's efforts to provide support to targeted sectors, and post-Ebola challenges, saying the outbreak which has significantly impacted economic activities in the country's domestic food production, mining activities and the service sector are all experiencing sharp decline by 3.4 percent.

Making the disclosure Thursday September 11, 2014 at the Ministry of Information Culture Affairs and Tourism, the acting Minister of Finance and Development Planning Amara Konneh said the country's economy is gradually taking a nosedive well below 5.9 percent, the position it maintained before the outbreak of the killer disease that continue to take away more lives.
