Seattle — Largest Private Grant to Save the Children Will Provide Urgent Care for Orphans in Liberia; Gift Is Part of $100 Million Commitment to Fight Ebola Crisis
Philanthropist Paul G. Allen today announced a multi-million dollar grant aimed at addressing one of the most tragic outcomes of the Ebola crisis in Liberia: the care of children orphaned by the virus. According to UNICEF, at least 3,700 children in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone have lost one of their parents to Ebola so far this year. The challenges facing these orphans will impact their young lives for decades.
