The 6th annual Africa Public Private Partnership Conference & Showcase (APPP 2014) organised by AME Trade Ltd in partnership with the African Development Bank will take place from November 19-21, 2014 at the Sofitel Hotel, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

The event is established as the leading high-level international pan-African PPP strategy and infrastructure partnering conference. APPP 2014 will continue to act as a unique platform to discuss ways of mobilising PPPs to develop much-needed infrastructure on the continent. "Promoting sustainable PPPs for the benefit of Africa's future generations" is the main theme of the sixth edition where 50 industry speakers will share their knowledge with over 200 delegates.

A special feature of this year's conference will be the CPD Certified Pre-conference Training Course on The Legal Tool Kit for PPPs. The course will take place on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 and equip industry practitioners with very useful tips on the legal requirements for bankable PPP agreements. The course is designed to cater for all levels of practitioners, including attendees with no prior legal knowledge. The course will be led by a team of experienced industry professionals.

At the time when the AfDB moves its operations back to his statutory home, organisers are delighted that the Bank will once more be at the forefront of ensuring the success of the APPP conference to be held in Côte d'Ivoire. The Bank will be making special welcome remarks in the official opening ceremony which will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 9:00 am, to be attended by the Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire, Daniel Kablan Duncan.

In addition to contributing to the program in key sessions of the conference, the Bank will be the host of the official welcome Gala Dinner, taking place from 19:00 (7:00 pm) at the Sofitel Hotel, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

The first plenary session on the opening day of the conference is titled, "Current Projects and key sectors for PPPs". The session will deal exclusively with PPP issues in Côte d'Ivoire and the AfDB's experience with PPPs and its support of Inclusive Growth, using Côte d'Ivoire as a case study.

Other sessions on the first day of the conference will cover topics including global case studies, effective project preparation and a snap shot of PPPs across Africa, with the AfDB outlining its vision and plans for PPPs across the continent.

The programme of the second day includes presentations covering such areas as Risk Management, PPPs in the Transport Sector, Energy and Power and Health. There will also be a panel discussion on Capacity Building.

The day will be rounded up by a debate on regional connectivity through Public Private Partnerships.

Bringing APPP to Côte d'Ivoire in 2014, the event promises to deliver a programme comprised of the industry's most accomplished and distinguished leaders, from senior government representatives to CEOs of major international financing institutions and prominent private sectors players. Delegates will gain invaluable insights into projects past and present, and acquire a robust understanding of the principles needed to establish legal and economic frameworks to implement PPP initiatives.
