Tunisia need just a draw to ensure a place in the quarter-finals of the African Nations Cup but say they will be going for the win against DR Congo in Bata on Monday.

The north African side head the pool with four points, the only team to have picked up a victory in Group B so far after coming from behind to defeat Zambia 2-1 last time out.

Coach George Leekens has continuously sought to play down his side's chances in this tournament, but must secretly be confident that they can go all the way in a finals where no clear-cut favourite has emerged from the first round.

"We have four points, but everyone is still in contention," the Belgian coach said.

"We are not the best team - we don't have Ronaldo or Messi - but we have a team with enormous character and great mental strength."

Tunisia have been efficient in front of goal, but have struggled creating chances. They have had just seven shots on target in their opening two games, but three of those have found the back of the net, a healthy ratio.

However, they have also suffered from problems at the back - they have just a single clean-sheet in their last 10 Nations Cup matches.

DR Congo are sweating over the fitness of midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu, who is a doubtful after injuring his hamstring against Cape Verde.

But goalkeeper Robert Kidiaba, who will end a stellar international career after this tournament, says the Congolese have the quality still to hurt Tunisia.

"Tunisia are a formidable side, but they dare not underestimate us," the 28-year-old said.

DR Congo could make a piece of unusual Nations Cup history - their last five games at the finals have ended in draws and no side has ever drawn six in a row.

In fact, the Leopards have won only one of their last 13 matches at the continental showpiece, showing their struggles at the tournament.

For them to be sure of qualification they must beat Tunisia, while a draw could be enough if Cape Verde and Zambia end in a stalemate too but DR Congo score more goals than the islanders in their fixture.

If both games end in a draw and with the same number of goals, then the drawing of lots will be needed to separate Cape Verde and DR Congo.
