Under the leadership of the Madagascar Presidency Office, the country Community of Practice on Managing for development results (CoP-MfDR) will organize a learning and planning workshop from March 10-12, 2015 at Hotel Colbert in Antananarivo, titled "Results culture, a guarantee for development". This workshop's objective is twofold: validating the country assessment report and action plan on Managing for Development Results (MfDR), and giving a new momentum to the Madagascar Community on MfDR.
This workshop will be opened on March 11 by the Prime Minister, Jean Ravelonarivo. It will be closed by a government retreat on March 13, chaired by the President of Madagascar, Hery Rajaonarimampianina. All Ministers, senior government representatives, parliamentarians, and civil society leaders will be in attendance.
The event is supported by the Africa for Results initiative (AfriK4R) housed within the Quality and Results Department of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, with AfDB's Madagascar field office.
The Africa for Results (AfriK4R) initiative of the African Community of Practice (AfCoP), of which Madagascar is a member, seeks to help accelerate regional integration, establish effective public financial systems, facilitate trade and improve the business climate on the African continent through knowledge and best practice exchange on managing for development results (MfDR) between member states of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
The learning and validation workshop represents the first activity of Madagascar's AfriK4R roadmap on results-based management. Stakeholders will be trained on results-based management principles and practices. The findings of the national MfDR assessment report will also be validated alongside the launch of an action plan designed to accelerate key policies in support of regional integration objectives of COMESA.
Madagascar is considering managing for development results (MfDR) as instrumental in implementing its national development plan. Effective leadership from the top for development results brings about more capacity to plan, budget, implement, monitor and accountability for the outcomes achieved. It is expected that areas to implement rapid results initiatives will be initiatives and backed by Ministers following this workshop.

The African Community of Practice (AfCoP) is a coalition of over 4000 development leaders and practitioners from 68 countries globally. AfCoP members work for African governments, civil society, and as independent experts in the field. The African Development Bank (AfDB), in partnership with the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), is supporting AfCoP in mainstreaming MfDR on the continent with a focus on regional integration.
The Africa for Results (AfriK4R) initiative, AfCoP's flagship program, aims to promote regional integration in Africa through the use of managing for development results (MfDR) principles and practices. To date, 17 countries have committed to the AfriK4R initiative, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cote d'Ivoire, DR Congo, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The WAEMU and COMESA regional economic communities are also partners on the AfriK4R initiative.
