Operation Fiela has been described as "legitimising xenophobia". While many South Africans have spoken out against the controversial raids, others feel they are justified. However, the operation has had a devastating effect on foreign nationals, who have been detained, deported, and forced to seek refuge in displaced persons' shelters. KHADIJA PATEL reports.

"I didn't run away from Zimbabwe because of all that political and economic things," says Loyce Hove, a Zimbabwean woman who had been living at the Central Methodist church in Johannesburg for five years.
