Africare's Bishop John T. Walker Memorial Dinner Gala, one of the nation's largest annual fundraising events for Africa, will be held on December 5, 2015, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Head of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of African Affairs, Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, will deliver the keynote address, and William E. "Kip" Ward, Retired General Officer and Inaugural Commander of the U.S. Africa Command and current President of SENTEL Corporation, will be the Master of Ceremonies. The evening will include a performance by recording artist Bridgette Bryant.
"The Bishop Walker Gala connects individuals and organizations from diverse fields who share the mission of empowering Africans to improve their lives and rallies support for Africare's community-based programs across Africa," said Stephen D. Cashin, Chairman of the Board at Africare and CEO of Pan African Capital Group, LLC.
Several long-time Africare supporters, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, will be honored at the Gala which pays tribute to the memory of Bishop John T. Walker, who served as Africare's Board Chairman and as the first African-American Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, D.C.
