The Steering Committee of the 42nd Session of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), held from December 3 to 5, 2015 at the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) headquarters in Abidjan, was a major platform for discussions on renewed partnerships.

Issues discussed related not only to ADEA's sustainability, transitioning and ownership by African member countries, but also to renewing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the association and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

By signing the above mentioned MoU, JICA renewed its remarkable full member subscription to ADEA membership, which entitles it to receive some of the following quality services provided by the Association: Invitation to ADEA meetings, including the Steering Committee sessions and the Triennales on Education in Africa; Access to ADEA's networks, working groups, publications, databases and so forth.

The MoU was signed at the end of the three-day meeting of the 42nd Session of the ADEA Steering Committee, by Eiro Yonezaki, JICA Chief Representative in Côte d'Ivoire, and Oley Dibba-Wadda, ADEA Executive Secretary.
