Liberia Turf War - Sports Minister Breaches Football Advert Deal

Monrovia — The Ministry of Youth & Sports (MYS) and the Liberia Football Association (LFA) appear to be at loggerheads after Minister Lenn Eugene Nagbe unilaterally entered into a sponsorship arrangement with LoneStar Cell/MTN, the rival to Cellcom GSM, which has sole rights to sponsorship of football-related activities and at stadiums, which is own/under the control and supervision of the LFA in the country.

FrontPageAfrica (FPA) has learned that the LFA has been upset over the move by the MYS, which has led to the placing of several banners, billboards and logos of LoneStar GSM at strategic locations in and out of the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS).
