Expert Group Meeting for the Validation of the MDGs-SDGs Transition Report 2016

23 June 2016
press release

The Economic Commission for Africa and its partners, African Union Commission (AUC), United Nations Development Programme's Regional Bureau for Africa (UNDP-RBA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) will co-organize the validation meeting of the MDG-SDG transition report 2016, corresponding to the first edition of the publication (The SDG Report) which will replace the MDG report on Africa. The event will be held in Accra, Ghana, from 28 to 29 June 2016 and will be attended by MDG and SDG focal persons from all African countries.

Several African countries are already taking steps towards transitioning from the MDGs to the new global and continental agendas (Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2063), thus demonstrating their commitment to complete the unfinished business of the MDGs and to transform their economies. The MDG-SDG transition report 2016 underscores that adequate institutional arrangements will be key for the attainment of the SDGs and provides useful information on relevant policy initiatives and reforms being implemented by several African countries. The meeting will provide a platform for exchange of experiences and information.
