La Tour Hassan Hotel, Rabat, Morocco — An abundance of resources creates several opportunities and challenges on the continent. When well managed, natural resources wealth, including extractives, can accelerate Africa's economic transformation and create jobs and opportunity for present and future generations. The challenge is finding ways to capitalize on extractive industries projects. Local content policies potentially offer countries and communities an effective pathway.
In order to generate debate for increasing positive outcomes from extractives through local content policy, the African Development Bank's African Natural Resources Center (ANRC), King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) and OCP Policy Center (OCPPC) are co-hosting a workshop in Rabat, Morocco, on September 5-6, 2016.
The workshop is an opportunity to engage participants for cross learning, share and discuss practical case studies, lessons learned and knowledge tools developed by ANRC to support African countries to formulate and implement local content policies.
