African Talk Show the Scoop Hits 100 Shows but Despite Good Audiences, Still Needs a Sponsor

London — African talk show The Scoop has gone from strength to strength in audience terms. But like a lot of good African TV programmes, it struggles to find a sponsor. Russell Southwood spoke to the show's creator Salim Amin, Africa24 Media about reaching 100 shows and what's coming up in season nine.

Every independent TV producer launching a pan-African TV programme faces the same dilemma. Few African free-to-air TV stations have the budget to commission a programme series. Without a commissioner, the producer needs sponsorship. To get sponsorship you need to demonstrate that you can get audiences. Without data, it's hard to show what audiences there are.
