Botswana: Live2lead Growing

24 October 2016

The founder of Leadership Nurturing - a personal growth and leadership development company based in Maun - Hannah Lecha's quest to cultivate the spirit of self-development and leadership among Batswana is slowly bearing fruits. "The response to the conferences has been good so far. In the latest conference that we held in Maun this past week, we had representation from all stakeholders including students," said Lecha. The Maun-based entrepreneur said the response and turn up she is getting from the general public to the Live2lead Simulcast conferences and the quality of leaders she has so far worked with at Leadership Nurturing are a living testimony that she is slowly accomplishing her objectives of raising awareness of the importance of personal growth and leadership development. "There is no substitute for continual learning. You cannot put a price tag on personal development," said Kelebogile Disang - a speaker at the Live2lead Simulcast conference held in Maun. According to Lecha, there is currently a big gap between locals' will to self-develop and grow into leaders of quality and that of people in developed countries.

She bemoaned the fact that it seems Batswana mostly depend on their employers and government to equip them or arrange self-development platforms for them. "People tend to forget that you have to lead yourself first before you can lead other people," Lecha said. Hannah Lecha is one of the few independent certified coaches with The John Maxwell Team and from the recent Live2lead Simulcast conference in Maun she is satisfied that the message is slowly receiving audience among locals. "Students who attended the conference were sponsored by us," said Lecha. This, she said, is to emphasise and instill the need for self-development and leadership nurturing from an early age. Lecha will host another Live2lead Simulcast conference in Francistown on October 28. Live2Lead is an annual exclusive simulcast event hosted by John Maxwell partners around the world. It is a half-day leader development experience designed to equip attendees with new perspectives, practical tools and key takeaways. They will learn from world-class leadership experts, be prepared to implement a new action plan and start leading when they get back to the office with renewed passion and commitment.
