Cameroon: French Foreign Minister Calls for RFI Correspondent's Release

French Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault has appealed to Cameroon to release RFI's Hausa-language correspondent Ahmed Abba, who has been in prison there for more than 16 months without being convicted. Abba was to appear before judges for the ninth time on Wednesday.

Abba has been detained in "extremely difficult" conditions for more than one year and four months and recently had to spend time in hospital, the management of RFI and its parent company France Médias Monde said in a statement on Tuesday.
