Africa Resilience Forum - AfDB President Lays out Blueprint for Dealing with Fragility

The African Development Bank is hosting the first edition of the Africa Resilience Forum in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on January 10-11, 2017. The overarching theme will focus on “Delivering the High 5s in a Resilient Africa”, with six plenary sessions and multiple parallel breakout sessions delving deeper into fragility issues affecting the continent.

The Forum will bring together more than 150 participants, including high-level government representatives, regional partners, international organizations and representatives from the private sector, academia, and civil society, to explore how best to support African countries transition from fragility to resilience through knowledge-sharing, innovative initiatives, partnerships and joint-financing.

The Forum is organized in partnership with several institutions, including the African Union, World Bank, UNDP, UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the G7+ Secretariat and Intergovernmental Authority on Development.

Akinwumi A. Adesina, President of the African Development Bank, will open the Forum, during a session to be attended by Hamed Bakayoko, Minister of State for Interior and Security of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, and several other high-level officials from 16 countries in fragile situations.
