Liberia: Women Group Wants FGM Law Passed

The National Working Group (NWG) against Female Genital Mutilation has expressed their deepest disappointment on the Legislature for the passage of the Domestic Violence Act (DVA) by the 53rd National Legislators of Liberia without the component of the FGM.

A press release from NWG stated that despite the continual commitments of the President of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf as an advocate for women's rights in Liberia, the fight against FGM continues to face series of challenges.
