Nigeria: Implement Anti-Tobacco Laws, Corps Members, CSOs Urge

Some members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and civil society organisations (CSOs) under the auspices of the Nigeria Tobacco Control Alliance (NTCA) have demand full implementation of the National Tobacco Act (NTC) 2015.

The delegation led by the chairman governing board of alliance and Deputy Director of the Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria (ERA/FoEN) Akinbode Oluwafemi held a sensitization rally yesterday in Abuja. They also submitted a petition to health minister Prof Isaac Adewole. Oluwafemi said the warning by the World Health Organisation (WHO) that tobacco kills nearly six million annually and will kill more than eight million worldwide by 2030, should not be ignored as large chunk of these deaths will come from nations like Nigeria.
