Zimbabwe: Battle of New Releases At Makomo Music Gala

Musicians that will perform at this year's edition of Makomo music festival scheduled for Hwange Stadium today will be on a mission to market their new albums at the event. The performing artistes include The Charambas who recently released two albums "Abba Father" and "Voice of Mirriam", Peter Moyo who released "Mopao Mokonzi", while Alick Macheso, Leonard Zhakata and Winky D who have hinted on new albums.

Thrills are expected from the country's finest musicians as they jostle to please Hwange fans with new stuff. It is a golden opportunity for Hwange folks who have rare opportunities to dance with top musicians. Macheso, through his publicist Tichaona Makahamadze, said they were ready for the big event.

"Usually Makomo attracts thousands of music lovers and we promise to deliver well-polished acts. We are also going to perform some of the songs from our forthcoming album at the show," he said. Zhakata's manager Ben Zhakata said they are looking forward to have a great show as they will give new stuff to revelers.

"Right now Zhakata is working on a new album and he will sample some of the songs during the show just like as he has been doing at his other recent shows. It will be a memorable day for the people of Hwange," he said. After putting up a sterling act at the fiesta last year Peter Moyo returns for yet another chance to shine. He released "Mopao Mokonzi" that has changed his fortunes in the music industry. Eusabia Rayire of Eumo Promotions who is behind the music extravaganza said the gig was meant to celebrate with the community.

"Usually when we do this event, transport operators, shops as well vendors from Hwange record highest business on the night. This show is meant to give back to the community. We always bring them their favourite musicians of different genres," she said. Rayire said they have consulted the community before coming up with the line-up of the musicians to perform on the day.
