Kenya: Tree Falls on Mombasa Food Vendor and Kills Her

A woman died on Thursday after a tree fell on her at Mbaraki in Mombasa County as heavy rains continued to pound the Coast.

According to the Kenya Meteorological Department, the downpour that began on Tuesday are set to continue.


Police officers and county disaster officials were at the scene trying to retrieve the body.

An eyewitness said the woman is a vendor who sells her food under the tree.

"Two others, who usually help her at the kiosk, were injured and have been rushed to hospital," said the eyewitness.

County askaris had a difficult time dealing with onlookers trying to catch a glimpse of the body.
