Liberia: UL Closes Registration Process

The University of Liberia has announced that first semester registration of 2017/2018 academic year which started on September 11, 2017, has finally come to an end as of Friday, November 10, 2017.

In a statement, the UL administration explained that the deadline for the registration process was extended from October 14 to October 31, 2017, and subsequently to November 9, 2017, based on students' appeal.

The UL statement indicated that several thousands of students may not enroll at the institution this academic semester.

On Wednesday, several students staged a protest on the Fendell Campus of the University demanding that they should be allowed to complete their registration process, having already paid their tuition at various designated banks.

The protest later turned violent when riot officers of the Liberia National Police stormed the campus to restore calm.
