Tanzania: Teacher in Court Over Assaulting Boss

A Kitarungu Primary School teacher has been arraigned for allegedly attacking his boss Thomas Marwa.

Mr Yaredi Amos, 27, appeared before Serengeti District magistrate in charge Ismael Ngaile.

Mr Amos is accused of hitting Mr Marwa repeatedly with fists and injuring his left eye in his office on December 6, 2017.

Reading the charge sheet, prosecutor Renatus Zakeo said the accused's action was contrary to section 16 of the Penal Code as amended in 2002.

However, the accused denied any wrongdoing and was remanded until December 27, when the case will be mentioned again.

He failed to meet bail conditions of having two sureties with letters of recognition and one being a public servant.
